Product Description

Welcome to 2011, where a new standard in fuel and timing control for the 5VZ-FE TRD supercharger, and beyond.

The TRD supercharger is a great piece of hardware, but TRD neglected the engine management needs, causing many owners to have lean boost air fuel ratios, low RPM/low gear high load ping and detonation- robbing drivability, power, and worse yet, engine and catalytic converter life.  At 7psi, TS logged the OE injectors hitting 98% duty cycle!! NOT GOOD!  Furthermore, the 5VZ-FE is a stout motor deserving boost, even high boost from a turbo system.  The TS 5VZ-FE management kit allows one to add the moderate boost of a stock pully TRD S/C, or any of the various smaller pullies, to high boosting turbo setups with tuning ease.

Many piggybacks of past manipulate fueling by altering the truck's MAF signal.  But unlike many boost setups, the nature of the 5vz-fe ECU and the quick onset of the supercharger's boost would cause closed loop boost conditions.  OE ECU's target 14.7:1 air fuel ratios in boost, and no matter what manipulation you do to the MAF signal while in OE ECU closed loop, you cannot tune for richer boost friendly ratios, as the OE ECU will use the downstreem o2 sensor to learn around your changes.  The solution up until now was to combine a MAF tuning device, along with an o2 sensor tuning device to work on both fronts to give the ability of air fuel control in closed loop, many of these o2 tuning devices coming with a 'fixed' air fuel value one cannot change.

A drawback to using the MAF sensor to tune for fueling changes, is that this moves the timing map also.  Another large difficulty is the affects of using larger injectors when the OE ECU is in conditions that does not use the MAF sensor to calculate fuel, such as cold starts and tip-in.  A turbo T100 using a MAF based piggyback to tune for 440cc injectors had 22 degree of timing in boost!!  This is what happens when scaling down the MAF signal to tune for larger injectors, and what the TokenSolutions kit avoids.

Enter the TokenSolutions AEM FIC package.  TokenSolutions has R&D'ed the exact filter circuit and narrowband o2 circuit modifications along with various software and firmware editions to provide seamless operation, giving one TOTAL control of air fuel AND timing retard for boost conditions.  The AEM FIC tunes fuel by controlling the injectors DIRECTLY, this mitigates affecting the timing map, and also allows one to SEEMLESSLY tune for much larger injectors- up to 700cc!!  Thus making this kit perfect for both the TRD supercharger AND turbo projects. The AEM FIC has a built in MAP sensor and allows one to use a variation of MAP, RPM, and TPS in the fuel and timing map with 21x17 maps! Furthermore one can adjust the X and Y maximum values for max boost and RPM giving further granularity!!

  • Contents and aspects of the kit include:
  • - TS AEM FIC- contains AEM FIC, vacuum tube, "T" vacuum fitting, software, flying lead harness, instructions, USB cable (yes, the FIC uses USB- no more USB to serial converters!!!!) and necessary TS additional hardware for proper opperation.
  • - Walbro 190lph fuel pump or optional 255lph fuel pump
  • - TokenSolutions flow, latency, voltage correction charted, numbered w/ printout modern denso drop-in, plug and play injectors- optional 420, 550 and 700cc.  No hacking, cutting, soldering, resistor-packs necessary, simply swap with OE injectors.  TRD S/C will not surpass the flow of the 190lph/420cc.  Turbo setups rejoice- 255 LPH + 550cc or 700cc= no fueling glass ceiling.  Both turbo and TRD S/C users can even make an E85 map controllable with a switch!
  • - 170 degree thermostat
  • - two step colder spark plugs (optional tripple ground copper or single ground iridium)
  • -  Air fuel/o2 sensor calibration ability standard!
  • Don't take TS's word for it, between the competition and the FIC, ask your tuner what piggyback software platform they prefer to use for tuning.

With many other piggyback solutions, one has to choose between a narrowband or wideband OE sensor skewing module.  In 1999 Toyota started using the new type of O2 sensors (wideband) on some vehicles and by 2001 these new type of sensors were being used on all of the Toyota trucks.  A 1999 Tacoma is narrowband, yet a 1999 California 4runner is wideband.  This TS AEM unit can handle either sensor type simply with a selection in the software.

There is NO need for MULTIPLE piggyback boxes, antiquated software interfaces, USB to serial converters and difficult tuneability. No more expensive and intrussive additional injector supporting hardware requiring fuel line modifications, no issues if the vehicle is EGR or non-EGR equiped.  Keep a reliable timing curve by keeping the MAF signal un-altered, or use the MAF map to calibrate for a different MAF pipe sampling size, and pulse up to 700cc injectors as if the truck came with them stock!

The AEM FIC allows one to do LIVE tuning- you no longer have to pull over, shut the engine off to make changes in your piggyback's software! In fact, the FIC can be powered simply by the USB connection and one can make quick changes or upload maps with the FIC on a desk, or without the vehicle even being on!  The FIC offers amazing data logging ability using AEM's free AEMPro EMS software!  You can wire in any brand wideband sensor 0-5vdc output to the AEM, calibrate it and watch a/f live on the FIC's software and data logging.  The FIC highlights the current load cel on the map, allowing for easy live tuning.  The expandability of the FIC allows the user to install a switch and switch between two maps.   The aux-outputs (used with the TS water/meth module) and/or programmable 12vdc output can be used to control water/meth delivery.  There is simply not enough room to describe all of the FIC's abilities, and superiority over other older inferior piggybacks.

With the variations offered, this kit can be configured to run a stock pulley TRD S/C kit all the way to a high boost turbo setup, both capable of the fueling needs of E85.  Increase power, torque, drivability and safety with the best equipment available, for a great price, with by far the best AEM FIC 5VZ-FE support around.  Welcome to 2011, and TokenSolution's 5vz-fe tuning kit.
