Many of you stopping here have probably already read AEM's description of the FIC.  Here are the important highlights as to why this unit via TS is the best bang for the buck for your 5vz-fe powerplant.

- The unit does not control fuel via MAF scaling, but through direct manipulation of the injector wires via actual injector drivers.  This allows one to painlessly and easily tune for vastly larger injectors, upwards of 700cc, without affecting idle, cold-start, tip-in values and timing curves.  For those going "big", be it highly modified supercharger or turbocharger, no longer do you have to play with multiple piggyback boxes, additional fuel rails and injectors.

- The FIC unit much like Split Second & MAP ECU units can scale the o2 signals (both either wideband or narrowband), allowing for closed loop a/f control, essential for the closed loop boost found with the TRD supercharger system.  But unlike the other piggyback units out there, the AEM FIC does NOT require additional boxes to do this, both narrowband or wideband skewing ability is found in the FIC, simply by clicking a mouse, not paying for and wiring in additional boxes.

- The FIC connects via USB, no pesky adapters needed, and the tune can be altered LIVE while driving.  The FIC can also be powered via the USB connection and tunes can be loaded with the ignition off or with the unit removed from the car/truck.  The FIC has a BUILT IN MAP sensor, no need to buy the sensor and harness.

- Changing intake piping for turbo, boring out throttle bodies etc alter the balanced a/f tip-in value of the OE ECU.  The FIC has an adjustable tip-in compensation feature.

- Besides also being able to retard timing, the FIC has a switch feature so one can switch between two maps/calibrations, and an a/f ratio sensor input wire so one can log a/f along with other FIC data such as TPS, injector duty cycle, o2 skewing, MAF voltage, boost pressure, ignition timing etc.

OVERVIEW

The F/IC gives users with OBD-II race vehicles and non-factory forced induction systems the ability to retard ignition and deliver accurate amounts of fuel without the need for outdated FMUs or “boost hiding” controllers. This system works parallel to the factory ECU preventing tuning limitations due to complex factory timing patterns. 21×17 maps with configurable load and RPM breakpoints are easily accessed with the F/IC’s Windows-based tuning software. The F/IC draws power from PC USB interface for quick and easy calibration changes.

PRECISE FUEL DELIVERY

The F/IC intercepts the signal to the stock injectors, allowing the user to modify pulse-width by +/-100%. The F/IC is the only piggy-back system that can decrease injector pulse-width, allowing the user to drive larger aftermarket injectors* while still maintaining proper air / fuel ratios. This powerful system can also tap into the factory injector signal and work independently to drive up to six (6) additional injectors.

TIMING RETARD CONTROL

The F/IC has the ability to retard timing by intercepting and delaying the outputs from the cam and crank position sensors to the engine- with no adverse affect on applications equipped with variable cam timing. The F/IC can retard timing from the factory system based on engine RPM and load inputs.

SENSOR CALIBRATION & CONTROL

The F/IC can also be used to recalibrate / clamp the MAF sensor, eliminating common problems with non-boosted factory MAFs. The on-board MAP sensor allows for proper fueling in boosted conditions.

CAN-BUS SYSTEMS NOT AFFECTED

Since the F/IC works in conjunction with the factory ECU, late model-vehicles equipped with a CAN-BUS system retain functionality of climate controls, dash and other components on the network.
